CanBio Maritime Bioenergy Trade Mission and Workshop: Acting on our Bioenergy Business Opportunities

October 14-17 2009, NS, PEI and NB

 

The trade mission invited professionals and bioenergy companies from the Nordic countries and other parts of Europe to attend a study tour in the 3 Maritime Provinces. Invited companies included equipment manufacturers and owners and operators of bioheat enterprises such as district heating systems. The event included 3 days of site visits, a trade show featuring Maritime and European companies, and a 1-day CanBio workshop, including business-to-business meetings.

Finnish mission to Northern Ontario and Quebec

October 8-10, 2008

 

Following CanBio's annual conference, a consortium of Finnish companies and organizations headed to three forestry communities in northern Ontario and Quebec that were seeking expertise and equipment to start-up biomass projects. "All the destinations were handpicked by CanBio as being the most ready for early development. They've been discussing bioenergy development for a long time," said CanBio President Doug Bradley who coordinated the visit.

Canadian Mission to China: Generating potentially $10 million in new biomass projects

25-27 May 2010, Beijing, China

 

When a dozen Canadian bioenergy and forest companies visited Beijing on a trade mission this May, the demand from 75 Chinese investors for one-on-one meetings was so great, that there was not enough time in the day to fulfill it. CanBio president and executive director, Douglas Bradley, who led the mission estimates up to $500 million may be invested in Canada as a result of the recent mission. “China has $20 billion to invest in renewable energy overseas. And Canada, with its ready supply of renewable biomass and the technology to convert it to energy and high-value products, is a very attractive partner for us,” Kai Johan Jiang, president of DP Cleantech, China’s largest bioenergy power producer, told the Canadians.

Canadian Study Tour to Finland: State-of-the-art forest supply chains and bioenergy projects

May 11-15 2009, Joensuu region, Finland

 

This four-day study tour will took Canadian delegates to the heart of bioenergy production, research and business in Eastern Finland to show delegates how to bring innovative Finnish technology and expertise back home. The visit featured a one-day training course for Canadians on the most advanced Finnish district heating technology by Dr. Veli-Matti Makela, one of the world's leading experts.

 

 

Canadian Mission to World Bioenergy 2008, Sweden

25-30 May 2008, Jönköping, Sweden

 

CanBio led a trade mission of 77 participants from six provinces to the world’s biggest bioenergy event. The Canadian delegation – the largest of any international group – participated in a special Canadian side-event to showcase trade and business opportunities and bespoke study tours.
