Be one of the first to tour Dockside Green, one of only 16 communities on the planet named a "Climate Positive Development". It was environmentally designed from the ground up, including roof gardens, heat and hot water from waste wood using Canadian gasification technology by Nexterra, waste-water treatment, and more (see below).
In British Columbia as in other provinces sawmill residues have hit the ceiling. How do communities and other biomass developers acquire a stable, costeffective supply and build projects? This 1‐day workshop will:
- Compare how government jurisdictions are opening up access to fibre for biomass developers
- Study how to reduce the cost of fibre supply chains
- Examine how to finance projects in this economic crunch
- Present the "integrated" pellet plant concept, now operating in Europe
- Hear winning concepts like "pooling" from European advisors
- Study solutions to legislative road blocks to small scale thermal bioenergy
- Meet investors looking for partnership opportunities

CANBIO invites you on an unforgettable trip to Vancouver Island to tour the LEED Platinum Dockside Green commercial/residential development located in the heart of British Columbia's capital city, Victoria. Nexterra commissioned a new turnkey biomass gasification plant at Dockside making the community carbon neutral.

A tour coach will pick you up at the Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel in Vancouver on Friday Aug 28th at 8:00 am and drive to the BC Ferries terminal. Once aboard the ferry, participants can disembark from the coach and spend a leisurely 90 minutes exploring the ship and take in the magnificent views (killer whale and bald eagle sightings a common occurrence...) from the outer decks as you pass through the Gulf Islands en route to Vancouver Island. Tour fee includes bus and ferry transportation along with a lunch voucher for the ferry dining lounge.
A guided tour of the Dockside development located in Victoria's Inner Harbour will take approximately 1½ hours and includes the biomass heating plant as well as the development itself including roof top gardens, water treatment plant and other environmental aspects. Subsequently, after a drive through the downtown of Victoria, the bus will return to the departure point in Vancouver, arriving at approximately 7:00 p.m.
